Guided tour: behind the scenes of a horse sale
About your activity
Accompanied by a guide, visitors discover behind the scenes of a sale during which, by tracing the history of sales in Deauville, they follow the path of a buyer, from the inspection of horses in the courtyards to the passage in the ring.
Everything starts in the courses, with the presentation of the sales catalogue that the buyer consults to find the crucial information about the horses present: pedigrees, lines, performances and charts. The horses, taken out of their box, are inspected with a fine comb by the buyers before heading to the presentation round. Here, visitors can discover the horses held in hand and watch their way around.
The visit concludes in the auction room, a key stage of the auction, where everyone has a specific role. We discover the auctioneer, a true conductor of the sale accompanied by the auctioneer, as well as the spotters, who, placed around the ring, are on the lookout for the slightest gesture of buyers to spot an offer.
Visit not accessible to people with reduced mobility for security reasons. Dogs and strollers are not allowed on the site.
